I had a nice chat with Anders as he was enjoying his rest day at 14,000 feet. They awoke late and had a leisurely breakfast. The weather was beautiful with blue skies and little wind. He was walking around camp in a T-shirt! He did say it was quite cold last night--down to minus 10 F or so. He just climbed in his mummy sleeping bag and pulled the hood over his head and basically stayed there for about 10 hours. The rest of the day is to prepare for the days ahead and to continue to rest and fuel up. He continues to feel great and is eager for the next steps....
Tomorrow the plan is to move to 17,000 feet and High Camp. If they are fortunate enough to do so, then they could potentially attempt to summit on Thursday....we'll see. One of their team is suffering from the altitude so Dave has elected to have him stay at ABC with one of the junior guides. As a result, Anders will be on a rope with Max (the 18 YO) and a guide.
Here is a link to a video of a plane flying right next to Denali--it will give you a sense of the beauty and magnitude of the environment that they are in....
