April (and everything after)

OK--April totals:

Swim: 25.9k yards
Bike: 849 miles
Run: 106 miles
Time: 77 hours

While not bad, these are somewhat disappointing for sure.  They're low of-course due to the investmenst I made in racing--especially the taper/recovery cost of the H-IM.  However, my training volume needs to be higher going forward.  This becomes clear in the context of how the 4-month YTD totals look over the last 5 years:

Swim

2010: 145,000
2011: 134,000
2012: 127,000
2013: 92,000
2014: 82,000   Down 43% from 2010

Bike

2010:  3422
2011:  3013
2012:  3026
2013:  2333
2014:  2408   Down 30% from 2010

Run

2010:  509
2011:  553
2012:  589
2013:  406
2014:  269  Down 47% from 2010

Time

2010:  368
2011:  339
2012:  329
2013:  309
2014:  316  Down 14% from 2014

Of course these numbers are skewed by the big investment in climbing in both 2013 and 2014--I've actually "trained" quite a bit in 2014 but it just hasn't been that much in swimming, biking and running.  Still, I definitely need to step it up in May--especially in the swim and run.  This will be especially important as I've made the mental commitment to race the Long Course national championships in Grand Rapids in early June--and I want to be a whole lot faster than I was in New Orleans (although is a low standard for sure).

Time to really get to work!
