February Volume (in perspective)

February was a solid month of training for me even though I was very busy work-wise.  I feel I'm "on-pace" for my May Bolivia climbs and doing the necessary prelim work for IM Barcelona in October.  Here is how February played out:

SWIM

I did 20,000 yards, which was my target for the month.   In 2017, when I was focused on our Nepal climb (and not swimming) I did 11,500 yards and last year I did 20,610 yards so a solid February.  My goal for March will be 25,000 yards and given there are three more days in March this should be a straight forward goal. Up through May, my main focus is going be on the climbs in Bolivia.  I would expect to get up above 30,000 yards/mth once the summer rolls around.

BIKE

I rode 942 miles vs. a goal of "around 1000 miles"  In 2017 I rode 667 miles and last year 934 miles.  I'm in maintenance mode on the bike so I'll be shooting for 1,000 miles again in March.

RUN/HIKE/CLIMB

I did 129 miles this month vs a goal of 100-120 miles.  In 2017, as we were putting in big volume for Nepal I did 188 miles.  Last year when I wasn't climbing but building for a late IM, I did 59 miles.  I'm training in Santa Monica right now and just did 5 straight days of climbs so I'm beginning to improve my fitness for Bolivia.  I'd like another big month this and am shooting for 150 miles.

WEIGHTS/STRETCH

I did 7.2 hours here vs. 1.1 in 2017 and 7.7 last year.   8-10 hours will be my goal for March

TOTAL TIME

98.5 hours--a pretty big February given just 28 days--this an average 3.5 hours/day.  This is a bunch of training for February!  In 2017, with all the hiking, I did 92.5 hours and last year I did 82.7 hours.
I'm guessing I'll need 100+ hours to do the volumes above.

All in all, on the flight path two months in!

Onward and upward!
